Dr. Khalid Alkhazraji

About the Authors

Dr. Khalid Alkhazraji holds extensive knowledge and experience in starting and managing small businesses in the GCC region. He has created start-up businesses and currently owns and manages several businesses in the Real Estate, Manufacturing, and Retail sectors.

He is also the deputy chairman of Majid Al-Futtaim Retail which owns and operates several Carrefour stores in the GCC, Middle East, Central Asia and North Africa markets. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the University of Dubai and a board director of Gulf Finance House.

Dr. Alkhazraji has taught Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management at the University of Mississippi in The United States of America (USA), and at the United Arab Emirates (UAE) University and the University of Dubai. (At present, he teaches Entrepreneurship and Innovation course at the UAE University MBA program). He has published several papers in Cross Cultural Management and Career Management. He published a reference book for the Garland Studies in ‘The History of the American Labor’ entitled “Immigrants and Cultural Adaptation in the American Workplace: A Study of Muslim Employees”, Garland Publishing, Inc. New York & London, 1997. ISBN: 0-8153-2856-7.

Dr. AlKhazraji is a former Deputy Minister of Labor in the United Arab Emirates and the Director General of the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (Tanmia). Within the Ministry of Labor he contributed to the formulation of UAE labor policies and the development of processes and services in managing the expatriate labor force. He also introduced policies which contribute to the development and employment of the UAE national human resource.

Dr. AlKhazraji obtained his Ph.D. degree in Business Administration from the University of Mississippi and his BS degree from the University of Miami in Florida. He started his career as an Assistant Professor of Management in the School Business and Economics at the UAE University. During his tenure at the University, he held several posts among them Chairman of the Department of Business Administration, Associate Dean of the School of Business and Economics, and a member of the University’s Supreme Council.

Dr. AlKhazraji has represented the United Arab Emirates Government in several regional and international occasions such as International Labor Organization (ILO) conferences and the Free Trade Agreement negotiation with the United States.
